Book 11
Book 11
Sundown, Yellow Moon by Larry Watson
Book 10
Book 9
As I stated in the last post, I picked Firefly Lane because I needed something frilly to read. I made this decision just after I finished reading Little Children by Tom Perrotta, a book filled with dysfunctional relationships, adultery, catty women, angry men, the woes of being a stay-at-home parent, and a the sexual perverseness of a child molester. So, yeah. I needed something light.
Except Firefly Lane isn’t light. It isn’t a “beach read” like I thought. It’s a story about a thirty year friendship between two women and everything that entails. And when I got to the end of it, I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t see. All I could do was sit on my bathroom floor, by myself, and cry.
Is this book for everyone? Absolutely not. In fact, I would think most men would be bored out of their minds (maybe). I also believe the women who would understand this book have to be older, with some history behind them. It hit me at just the right time, and I’m 33.
Anyway, so much for a frilly read.
Book 8 (because I need something frilly after Book 7).
